“At The POGIL Project, we strive to improve teaching and learning by fostering an inclusive, transformative community,” said Rick Moog, Executive Director of The POGIL Project. “In Kendall Hunt, we have found a partner that shares our belief in providing students and educators with the tools they need to be successful. We are proud to welcome Kendall Hunt into the POGIL community as valued contributors to our mission.”

With a national office located in Lancaster, Pa., The POGIL Project, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that brings together like-minded educators who wish to effect change within education. It works to disseminate its unique pedagogy, POGIL, at the secondary and college levels through the production of curricular materials as well as professional development workshops.

The acronym POGIL stands for Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning—this unique pedagogy focuses on a student-centered, group-learning model. Facilitated by a trained instructor, students work in small teams using specially designed activities that follow a learning cycle paradigm of Exploration, Concept Invention, and Application. Student teams are guided to construct their own understanding of complex concepts while developing higher-level thinking and the ability to apply their knowledge in new contexts.

“The foundational philosophies of Kendall Hunt and POGIL are very similar,” said David Tart, Vice President of Higher Education at Kendall Hunt. “Both companies believe in empowering professors to provide individualized learning opportunities for their students. We are excited to join efforts and grow our impact exponentially.”
