It’s POGIL Pledge Week!

Wednesday October 10th, 2015

With such a wonderful response from our POGIL community, we’re making POGIL Pledge Week a regular event!

Thank you to everyone who made a gift last year during our first POGIL Pledge Week. With such a wonderful response from our POGIL community, we’re making POGIL Pledge Week a regular event!

Your gift helps make it possible for more than a thousand educators to experience POGIL workshops and summer meetings, as well as participate in our dedicated learning community, every year…

Your gift helps make it possible for thousands of students to become engaged in their own learning, and improve vital process skills such as communication, teamwork and critical thinking…

Here are some things real students say about a class taught using POGIL:

  • "My teammate and I put our heads together to answer the opening clicker question of the class, and although we were very uncertain, we got the correct answer. It felt good to know that although sometimes we think that we are alone, we are not."
  • "One thing that I really learned this week was how to reach out to fellow classmates with questions because that either might have the same questions as you or that might have a resolution to your particular problem. We also decided to meet up every Sunday to work on the homework in the library just to make sure that everyone is able to understand the concepts."
  • "My group has continued to work well together. I really enjoy working with them, and I feel like we’ve been communicating really well recently. Kayla and Saajan have been helping me understand some of the more conceptual stuff we’ve been learning with entropy, and I’ve been able to help them out with the cycle problems."
  • "The skill this week was critical thinking, which involves analyzing and evaluating relevant information to reach a conclusion supported with evidence. Our group used this skill when solving the critical thinking questions on Tuesday for the heater and the water. Members of the group where unsure whether the sign would be positive or negative when the water was heated. We were able to look back at the work section and analyze the signs and the reasoning behind them. We were then able to apply that information to heat."

We hope you will consider donating again this year, or if you’re new to The POGIL Project, making a first-time gift during POGIL Pledge Week, October 19-23. Visitwww.pogil.org/donate. Your gift makes it all possible. Thank you!
