Shawn Simonson, Associate Professor and Director of the Human Performance Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology at Boise State University, holds a doctorate in Kinesiology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. His content areas are Exercise and Environmental Physiology. He teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as laboratory and performance oriented courses. Previous work experience includes most of the jobs that students in the Kinesiology department will find themselves performing. Simonson has been at Boise State University since 2007.
Since the fall of 2014, Simonson has also served a Faculty Associate in the Center for Teaching and Learning. In this role, he focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning, conducts training workshops, consults, and presents internationally to help others improve their teaching and student learning. Down time for Simonson. includes family, working his dogs, physical activity, scuba diving, remodeling/woodworking, and tinkering on/driving his car. Simonson is a former member of The Project Steering Committee. He also served as the editor of POGIL: An Introduction to Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning for Those Who Wish to Empower Learners, published by Stylus.
