      The POGIL 3-Day Regional Workshop provides instructors from both high schools and colleges/universities, with all levels of POGIL experience, significant opportunities to enhance their professional development by gaining new insights into teaching and learning. There will be a sequence of workshop sessions specifically designed for those who are new to POGIL (Introductory track), and also sessions for those with previous POGIL experience (Intermediate track), including some new components for 2014.

      An Advanced track is also available at other Regional Workshop locations. (See details below)

      At this workshop, you will learn about POGILs philosophy and methodology. You will also learn about different facilitation techniques and have opportunities to write and review activities, as well as attend informative poster and plenary sessions.

      While the workshops focus is on the STEM disciplines, attendees are encouraged from all disciplines.


      Introductory Track: This track is designed for participants to experience the POGIL methodology and learn to facilitate POGIL activities. No prior workshop attendance is required.

      Intermediate Track: This track is designed to improve participants facilitation skills and introduce POGIL activity structure. You must have previously attended at least a 3-hour POGIL workshop.

      For those interested in a 3-day Regional Workshop where an ADVANCED TRACK is being offered (in addition to the Introductory and Intermediate tracks), please consider registering at one of the following locations.

      WORKSHOP COST: Workshop fee is $375 (registration, materials, lunches/dinners). On-campus housing for two nights is provided for an additional $100 and includes two accompanying breakfasts. Space is limited, and early registrations are encouraged.

      CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS AVAILABLE: For an additional fee of $50, participants in the POGIL regional workshops can choose to receive CEUs (Continuing Education Units) through Millersville University. There is an attendance requirement if you choose to pursue CEUs.

      You will be staying in an air-conditioned 2 bedroom apartment with your own private bedroom. Each apartment has a shared living space, two full bathrooms and a kitchen. The kitchen is furnished with a microwave, dishwasher, stove and refrigerator. The apartment will also be equipped with 2 desks/chairs, a loveseat, chair, a table with four chairs, and ceiling fans. Washer and dryers units are also available in each apartment.

      You will be furnished with a linen package that includes: 1 pillow, 1 pillowcase, 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, 1 wash cloth, 2 twin size flat sheets and 1 blanket.

      Internet access is available in the Erbach Apartments. For a wireless connection in the apartments, you will need to bring both an ethernet cord and a wireless router. For a wired connection to the internet in the apartments, you will need to bring your own ethernet cable.

      Please note: Housing is provided only to workshop participants and only for the nights of July 15th and 16th.

      PLEASE NOTE: The University of Central Arkansas requires that each participant staying in the housing provide the following information: First name, last name, gender, date of birth, participant or staff classification, Emergency contact name, Emergency contact relationship, Emergency Contact Cell number, medical information (Allergies),etc.

      Check-in for all workshop participants will take place on Tuesday, July 15th in the lobby of the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center (BHCC) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The BHCC is located at 201 Donaghey Ave, Conway, AR

    • Housing Parking Info

      For those participants staying in the Erbach Apartments, there is parking right in front of the apartments for your use. There is also an overflow parking lot behind the apartments that can be entered via Robins Lane or Torreyson St. However, there should be plenty of parking spaces available at the apartment complex for your vehicle. Please note: Parking permits are required and should be placed on the dashboard of your car. Free permits will be distributed at check-in.

      The closest lot to the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center is the parking lot off of Beatrice Powell St. There are also a number of additional parking lots surrounding the building which can either be entered from Beatrice Powell St. or Sesame St. Parking permits are required and permits should be placed on the dashboard of your vehicle. Free parking permits will be distributed at check-in.
