      The POGIL 3-Day Regional Workshop provides instructors from both high schools and colleges/universities, with all levels of POGIL experience, significant opportunities to enhance their professional development by gaining new insights into teaching and learning.

      There will be a sequence of workshop sessions specifically designed for those who are new to POGIL (Introductory track), and also sessions for those with previous POGIL experience (Intermediate and Advanced tracks), including some new components for 2014.

      At this workshop, you will learn about POGILs philosophy and methodology. You will also learn about different facilitation techniques and have opportunities to write and review activities, as well as attend informative poster and plenary sessions.

      While the workshops focus is on the STEM disciplines, attendees are encouraged from all disciplines.


      Introductory Track: This track is designed for participants to experience the POGIL methodology and learn to facilitate POGIL activities. No prior workshop attendance is required.

      Intermediate Track: This track is designed to improve participants facilitation skills and introduce POGIL activity structure. You must have previously attended at least a 3-hour POGIL workshop.

      Advanced Track: This track is designed to focus on improving participants facilitation skills, writing and receiving feedback on POGIL activities, and developing a scholarship of teaching and learning project. You must have previously attended a 3-day POGIL workshop.

      IMPORTANT: All THREE Tracks as described above will be offered at this Regional workshop (Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced Track).


      WORKSHOP COST: Workshop fee is $375 (registration, materials, lunches/dinners). On-campus housing for two nights is provided for an additional $100 and includes two accompanying breakfasts. Space is limited, and early registrations are encouraged.

      CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS AVAILABLE: For an additional fee of $50, participants in the POGIL regional workshops can choose to receive CEUs (Continuing Education Units) through Millersville University. There is an attendance requirement if you choose to pursue CEUs.

      Notre Dame du Lac is one of the newer residence halls on campus. Notre Dame du Lac offers single-gender suite / apartment-style living, featuring a common area lounge, semi-private bathroom and kitchenette. Du Lac also offers two laundry rooms, four study rooms, and an outdoor seating area adjacent to the main lobby. A linen package is included, and includes: 1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet, 2 bath towels, 1 face towel, 1 blanket and a pillow/pillowcase.

      Please Note: Housing is provided to workshop participants only for the nights of 7/25/14 and 7/26/14.

    • Check-In Info

      Check-In for all workshop participants will take place at the Pettit Atrium (1st floor of Building #C15, Shields Science Center) on Friday, July 25th from 9:00 AM until NOON. Those staying in campus housing should arrive early to give themselves enough time to check-in, place their items in their sleeping room, and return to main meeting location.
