Laura Trout has a B.S. in chemistry from Central Washington University and a M.S. in chemistry from the University of Washington. She has taught high school chemistry for 18 years, and is currently teaching Chemistry I at Lancaster Country Day School in Lancaster, PA. Laura currently serves as the Editor in Chief for the High School POGIL Initiative. She has been writing and implementing guided inquiry activities for the high school chemistry classroom for about eight years, as well as facilitating POGIL workshops for about six years. She has also designed two instructional products that are currently available from Flinn Scientific (Go Fish for an Ion Card Game and Gluep Production Lab). Laura is active in the chemistry education community nationally, attending NSTA, Chem Ed and BCCE conferences whenever possible. She has made presentations, or displayed posters, in the areas of Open Ended Laboratory Activities, Electrochemistry Labs and Guided Inquiry Learning for High School Chemistry.
