"NSF Workshop: Research-based Chemistry Teaching." Available to current graduate and postdoctoral students in chemistry. This workshop will involve participants in activities and discussion, in a casual atmosphere, about student-centered, research-based instructional approaches. In particular, the Process-Oriented Guided-Inquiry Learning (POGIL) structure will be featured. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the approach from a student's perspective. Discussion will encompass issues of chemistry misconceptions, student motivation and abilities, lecture and lab environments, and issues of implementation.
